Documentation
What's written down vs. what's in your head
Your most critical daily task — could someone follow a written process to do it, start to finish, without asking you?
If you were unavailable for a week, would your team know where to find the information they need to keep things running?
How many of your recurring tasks have a written SOP or checklist that someone else has actually used?
2
Team Capability
Whether the people around you could actually take things on
Is there at least one person on your team who you'd trust to make sensible decisions in your absence?
Do your team members know what "good" looks like for their role — or do they rely on you to judge the quality of their work?
When something goes wrong, does your team bring you a problem — or a problem and a proposed solution?
Have you given someone a task, trusted them to complete it, and not checked in until it was done?

Systems & Structures
Whether the infrastructure for delegation exists
Do you have a defined way of tracking who is responsible for what — beyond a mental list or a conversation?
When you delegate something, do you have a way to track progress without having to ask for updates?
Are your key business metrics available to the people who need them — without going through you to get them?
4
Founder Mindset
Honest questions about your own role in the bottleneck
When you delegate something and it comes back 80% as good as you'd do it, do you consider that a success?
Be honest: do you hold on to certain tasks because you genuinely need to — or because it's faster to do them yourself?
Have you made a conscious effort in the last 30 days to remove yourself from a task or decision you used to own?
Does your business have a clear vision of what it's growing into — so you can delegate today's work to focus on tomorrow?
If the business were running brilliantly without your daily involvement, what would you do with that time?
